Idea the third largest mobile operator in India officially launched self help My Idea app for their users to manage SIM based services with a few tap across their Smartphone’s screen. Now you can get upto 1GB free 3G data from My idea app for just Rs.1 recharge. Also added the steps to register with My Idea App and how to add a new idea number or new connection to My Idea app. With the app check your mobile balance, last call details, billing request or even you can pay your bills too and more other features are integrated to the app. Operators like Airtel, BSNL, Reliance, Tata Docomo, Vodafone etc... already have their own app. Self help app will reduce our affection towards using USSD codes. I too agree that by running USSD we can easily check out our mobile balance, SIM based offers, data offers and so on. But we can't so much rely on these codes because they can be change at any time. Without knowing that we continue to use these USSD codes will leads to money loss. Also there are other limitations like we can't used it to find billing details, last deductions of our mobile balance, do top up and so on. 

These apps are most useful for postpaid customers than prepaid customers because its still confused to use some codes in postpaid connection and if we messed up with a wrong one then it only knows until we get shocks on our next billing cycle. So, I can say USSD codes are still not become our best friend at least for me.

Steps to get 1GB Data from Idea App

Like other apps you have to verify your Idea number with OTP to start using the app. By clicking on recharge option from the app home you can know full talktime offer, 2G/3G Internet plans, Regular Top-Ups, SMS Recharge, Bulk Mins, Tariff cut plans and list goes on. Here we go. 

Note: May your existing data pack get forfeit or overwrite with this pack 

• Install and open the app from playstore
• Enter your Idea Mobile number and verify it with OTP
• Done!... You successfully registered with the app
• Then from the app home tap on Get upto 1 GB for just Rs.1 offer banner (see below screenshot)

• On next page enter the promo code as APP1 and select confirm button
• Now select Rs.1 option and choose the payment method you like Idea money, credit/debit card 
• You free data will be added to your account

Min assured data is 100 MB and you can get upto 1 GB from this Rs.1 recharge. Offer is valid only for prepaid users and only once per mobile number

App still needs lot of work around and may feel little buggy. So, you may find some difficulty to login to My idea app. But follow above steps and you will be always there. 

Steps to add Another connection or Idea Mobile number

Follow below steps to add multiple idea connection to the app

• Click on you idea number in app home
• Then tap on Manage users button
• Now hit Add connection option
• Enter your another idea number and verify with OTP
• Done!... You successfully added your alternate number to the app

Features of My idea App

After login to the app you will welcome with last recharge details and options to check your account details, specially made offers for you and so on. Let's check more

My Account

Here you can find your main account balance, Alternate Idea Mobile number and your PUK number. For finding PUK pin number we have to ask customer care or have to search some USSD code to find for that us. But we can stop at my account option in app.

Under this they will display bunch of offers that are specially designed for you or only exclusive to you with full details of what are the benefits and how much cost you that. 

My VAS

I think its the most wanted person who spoils our sleep. Just kidding. But a fact in that because sometimes these services may get auto activated and will deduct our balance. So, here you can subscribe/deactivate VAS services and know your currently active Value Added Services too. 

My Services

You can check whether the default SIM services like ISD facility, Call conferencing, National and International roaming are active in your mobile number.

As the name indicates you can pay and recharge your own mobile number or alternate idea number that you added to the app.

This option is more helpful to raise billing request or to file or register complaints like call dropping, network problems, data connectivity issues or any other difficulties that may happen while using their services.

Above are most useful features that currently available in app. But the app still has some issues and hope that they will upgrade their app and brings more features to it.
