Steps to do Mobile Recharge in Paytm [Screen Shots Added]

Hi, readers here I'm sharing How to do prepaid-postpaid mobile recharge in paytm app as well as How to apply promocode and do mobile recharge in paytm app. Also added the steps to use paytm cash for mobile recharge with screenshots. Actually a few months back I already shared a post about promo code use in Freecharge and Paytm app. But that article was lengthy and you may find it as little bit clumsy and I planned to make it as separate posts. This was not the only reason, as they had made some changes in the coupon redemption steps. So, I included those changes in post and dropping here. You can use discount vouchers and coupons in their app while you recharging mobile number, DTH, Data Card, Shopping or even adding cash to your wallet to get respective benefits. 

They also provide discount or free cash coupons or code to users which can be use them to pay your bills or recharge mobile number for absolutely free. Before moving to explore below pls update your current app version or install the latest version from the app store. Below tutorials are explained with android app but the procedures are almost same as for other OS users. 

Steps to do Prepaid or Postpaid Mobile Recharge in Paytm App

Before proceeding to the process you must install or update latest version of the paytm app from playstore and keep the mobile number that you registered with the paytm because you will need this for your log-in verification. 

Also if you are using credit or debit card then you must have the mobile number that you registered with your bank account for verifying your transaction.

Step 1

For doing transactions, log-in to the paytm first. So, click on Profile icon from the app home

Step 2

Now select Login to the paytm option from top

Step 3

After that enter your mobile number, password and tap on Secure login button

Then verify your mobile number with OTP (One-time-password) that received to your inbox. If you put the same SIM app will auto-verify it otherwise enter the password manually to the app. (This process is for verifying your log-in to the app)

Step 4

Select Mobile Prepaid for recharging Prepaid number and Mobile Postpaid for postpaid recharge or bill pay

For Prepaid Recharge

Click on Mobile number option from the screen

After that you will have the option to enter your mobile number and further details like in below screenshot. Once you fully enter the mobile number the app will auto-detect your operator, circle and if it's not correct then tap on it and set it manually. 

1. Enter the mobile number (You can also select the number from the contact list by clicking on the Address book icon next to it)
2. Operator & Circle will auto-detect if its not then tap on it choose the operator 
3. Enter the amount that you wish to recharge (You can also click on Browse Plans to choose your recharge plan)
4. Select your recharge type whether top-up or special (It may get auto-select if you choose recharge plan by Browse plans option and if you are not sure about this then leave it as like it)
5. Then click on Proceed to Recharge button

On above screenshot you can see a Fast Forward option make sure its unchecked (ie. there is no tick mark) if its get checked (ie. seeing a tick mark) then after clicking on Proceed to recharge button then you'll directly taken to the payment page and you will not get a chance to apply the promo code

Note:- Those users (prepaid or postpaid) who don't want to apply a promo code can click on Fast Forward (after that you can see a blue tick mark) and tap on Proceed to Recharge button then you'll taken to the payment page and then follow from step 7 to complete the recharge

For Post Paid Recharge

Same steps discussed as above like the prepaid recharge and only difference is under Amount option you have to enter the outstanding bill amount and rest of the details as follows

1. Enter your Postpaid Mobile number
2. Operator and circle will auto-detect(If not click on it to change)
3. Enter the outstanding bill amount (You can also click Fetch Bill Amount to get your payable amount)
4. Then click on Proceed to Pay Bill button

After that follow the steps below

Step 5

From here on steps are same for both prepaid and postpaid. On coming page you can apply the promo code as follows

1. Click on Have a Promoocode? 
2. Enter the promocode you have
3. Press Apply button

Step 6

If your promocode get successfully applied then a message will show the benefits you'll get (see screenshot below) and then click on Proceed to pay button

You will only get the benefits ie. cashback if your promocode get successfully applied

Step 7

After that you'll reach the payment page where you can choose the payment method to pay the amount to do the recharge. Here I'm selecting Debit card as my payment method

Here also you can pay using your wallet cash. If you have enough cash in your wallet then paytm will show the amount at the top of your payment page. Then you can select pay now option to do the recharge.

Okay follow below steps and enter the details in your debit card to the paytm payment page as shown below

1. Enter your 16 digit Card number
2. Input your month
3. Enter the Year
4. Type-in your 3 digit CVV code from back of the card (printed on a white space)
5. Finally Click on Pay Now button

Here you can see Save this card for faster check out option. If you click on it to select it, then your card details save to the app and next time doing a recharge except CVV number other details will be auto-entered. If you don't want to save it then make sure that it was unchecked

Under other payment modes you can tap on it to select other payment options

Step 8

Then you'll reach a banking page in which a pop-up will appear from below where you have to enter the OTP password that will be received to the mobile number that you registered with the bank account

If you put the same SIM app will auto-verify it if it's not then enter it manually and verify it. If you are unable to enter the OTP to the pop-up then click outside of the pop-up then you can enter OTP to bank webpage and after that press verify or submit button

Step 10

Done!... You will shortly get your recharge
